‘Listening for Life’
Christian Listeners is an Acorn Christian Healing Foundation resource offering training in listening attitudes and skills through a variety of courses which are led by trained tutors. The course is open to anyone, though probably not appropriate for those recently bereaved or currently under extreme stress.
The sessions are practical and the group will be asked to explore some of their own concerns and experiences in twos or threes in an agreed confidential learning environment. The course will look at a three-dimensional way of listening ….
Listening to Others
- An awareness of the potential & power of good listening
- The skills of active listening – a particular approach developed by Acorn over many years
- An understanding of how such skills can be effective in everyday life: at home, work, community and church
Listening to Ourselves
- Learning to quieten ourselves before God
- Discovering our own natural listening patterns
- Growing in self-awareness, necessary for good listening
Listening to God
- Experiencing different ways of praying & listening to God: with the Bible, through meditation, reflection and silence
